Malaysia Desaru

Desaru is a beach and resort area in Johor, Malaysia. It is located approximately 88 kilometers east of Johor Bahru, on the South China Sea. It is a very popular weekend escape for residents of Singapore who come to enjoy the attractive beaches and golf courses. The numerous resorts and hotels here cater to the budget traveler as well as families seeking fun in the sun. Among some of the many activities include horseback riding, tennis, swimming, boating, fishing, snorkeling, jungle trekking, theme park and other sea sports.
The beach in here is quite unique as the sand is quite grayish but you can walk nearly 50 meters into the sea and still the depth is around 4 feet deep. Desaru has one of the best beach in the mainland of Johor.
One place visitors should not miss is the Fishermen's Museum located at the Tanjung Balau fishing village. Visitors can view the museum's impressive collection of fishing traps, tackles and floats on display as well as an exhibition on the folklore of fishermen.
Tourists can reach there from Johor Bahru, use the Johor Bharu - Kota Tinggi trunk road (45km). From Mersing town, use Mersing - Kota Tinggi trunk road. From the North - South Expressway, exit at Pasir Gudang interchange (Exit 256).
